I could give you the excuses. Yes, I have been busy. My parents were just in town, Neil and I had busy schedules that required attention, and the wee folk stole my computer. Well, maybe not that last one, but I haven't written in a while for many reasons- laziness being one of them.
Let's update the previous issues first, shall we? Neil is doing very well during his recovery. Everyday he feels better, and we see the doctor on Wednesday to update his progress. The wound is almost completely healed- a nice, soft shade of pink. The hope is that the doctor will clear him to swim and possibly to drive. It would be nice if he could sit for more than ten minutes a day, but we will take the start of physical therapy as a positive sign at this point.
Next item of business, the sleeping issues. Has it gotten better? A bit. Am I still going to bed too late and getting up too late? Yes, but working out helps. Trying to revamp my schedule without sleeping pills may not be possible. Last night I feel asleep "early" (read just after midnight), but I woke up a little over an hour later and could NOT get back to sleep. I finally did doze off around 3:30 or 4am. Got up at 10am to say good bye to my parents before they left and then went back to bed for an hour or so before taking Neil to work. This situation must change.
Finally, the running. Yes, this one is good news. I am starting week three today. I should be resting, but I am trying to "sync up" with my friend Amanda, who started the program a little ahead of me. Since we will be in the same place for over a week (more on this development later), I wanted to be sure we could be running buddies. Yesterday was my final Week 2 run, and it was a great feeling. I was challenged, but the run wasn't "hard" at all. Amanda and I decided to run M, W, and F this week because of the trip. I'll take my time warming up today since I am a little sore from yesterday, and I will also ice down my knees after the run to be sure I don't over do it. Neil and I talked yesterday about my training, and I decided to concentrate on the cardio right now. When I can run a 5k without a problem, my plan is to order the Wii Active set-up. I want the "game" badly, so it makes for a good carrot. Next step on this front: Choose a fall 5K to enter.
Holy wall of text. I think I will put the vacation planning information in a separate entry. I care about your eyes, dear readers.
